Introducing the latest additions to the Skylight family—Dan Schilling and Nathaniel Melnik!

Dan Schilling, Financial Professional, Toledo

Why did you choose to work at Skylight?

Earlier in my life I spent about eight years in the financial services industry and have recently decided to return to it full time. Skylight offered me excellent initial training and are committed to ongoing learning opportunities for all members of their team!

What causes do you have a passion for?

It is a wonderful blessing for me to encourage people in their relationship with the Lord. After several years in the financial services industry, I had a lightning bolt experience with the Holy Spirit that changed my life and inspired me to become a pastor. I am thankful for my service to the Lord and continue to be very active in my local Church—where I regularly attend worship, a men’s bible study and co-teach a junior high Sunday school class.

What life achievement are you most proud of?

Graduating from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, being ordained in the United Methodist Church, and serving the Lord through the United Methodist Church has truly been my proudest achievement in life!

Outside of the office, what do you enjoy doing?

Gardening is one of my biggest passions—I often tell people I am trying to recreate the Garden of Eden in my backyard! I have two apple trees, a strawberry patch, a raspberry patch, two blueberry bushes, herbs in pots, perennials and a vegetable garden.

Any big plans coming up?

My wife and I have been married for 28 years and enjoy hiking through national parks and traveling.  We are planning to take some trips out west and to Hawaii in the next five years!

Nathaniel Melnik, Financial Professional, Toledo

Why did you choose to work at Skylight?

I chose to work here because Skylight’s goal is to include clients in every step of the process. Skylight’s holistic approach to financial services distinguishes it from other firms!

What causes do you have passion for?

I am extremely passionate about my efforts in the Scouts, formerly known as the Boy Scouts. Growing up, this organization taught me valuable lessons and introduced me to my closest friends.  I am also very active in volunteering for causes surrounding human rights and the elimination of prejudice.

What life achievement are you most proud of?

I would say going from the Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts growing up then receiving the honor of Eagle Scout at the age of 18. The organization truly shaped me into the man I am today and showed me the importance of leading by example and supporting your community.

Outside of the office, what do you enjoy doing?

I am a big video game fan! I love playing games on my PlayStation 4 like Madden, Call of Duty, and Borderlands. I also enjoy staying active and working out.

If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life what would it be?

I would watch the first Iron Man for the rest of my life because I love Marvel movies, and this was the first one that kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Thanks for sharing gentlemen!
