Stepping Up Our Fundraising Efforts for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Bake sales, silent auction, dress down days, donation luncheons are just some of the ways that our team in Toledo is gearing up and fundraising for our much-loved annual “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk.  The walk, which takes place on May 19th in downtown Toledo at Hensville Park, is organized by the American Cancer Society who are working to create a world free from the pain and suffering caused by breast cancer.

This event is near and dear to our hearts as we have lost some people from breast cancer and have others who have won their battle as well.  This year will be the fourth year we have participated and it is always a big event for us.  We have great participation from the Toledo team for this fundraising challenge and I love it!

So far, we have raised $1,400 from a bake sale and a big silent auction which consisted of local merchant donations as well as donations from Skylight (Indians tickets) and from some of our associates here.  Last year, one of our financial planners who had just lost his sister to this awful disease challenged the office to raise $500 in an afternoon and if we succeeded he would match it.  This added another $1,000 to last year’s total bringing our fundraising efforts to an incredible $5,217.

We will have a team walking on May 19th and we will be sure to share pictures afterwards. Check out some photos below from our silent auction.

Teamwork makes the dream work!

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk raises awareness and funds to save lives from breast cancer. Each event is a non-competitive 3 to 5-mile walk that brings people together to make a difference for everyone who has been touched by breast cancer. The events raise money to fund innovative research, provide free information and support, and to help people reduce their breast cancer risk or find it early when it’s most treatable.
